Go Green!!!
Go Green! As a conservationist, I wanted to give some good advice and helpful tips on how to conserve energy and how to prevent so much waste. The best part is that you don't have to spend so much green to go green. One thing I have done was stop watching Television, I rarely watch it anyway. Battery operated radio's are good if you must hear the news or the weather or you can limit the amount of T.V. time. It's good for your Electric bill too might I say.
Here's a few tips: Donate any housewares and clothes you no longer need to a local donation center or Goodwill. You can get a library card. Ride your bike, walk, carpool, or drive at a steady, reasonable speed whenever possible also public transportation if it's near by. One easy thing to do is turn your lights off when you leave a room and your house. Prevent phantom energy loads by plugging your appliances into a power strip. If your a health nut like me you can do some exercise that requires no electricity, Yoga doesn't require electricity! Go for a run, ride your bike, lift weights, work on your garden. Do some Spring Cleaning if you'd like.
Don't forget grocery stores give you a choice of paper or plastic or... reusable canvas shopping bags. The reusable canvas bags are a really great way to go and you don't have to throw them in the trash. Also if you buy aluminuncans, you can recycle them and sometimes you can get money for it. Change heating and cooling filters when you pay your electricity bill. It may sound like overkill, but for people with allergies it makes all the sense in the world. Plus, you’ll save on your energy bill. Your heating and air units will act more efficiently, and you can save more money when you purchase the filters in bulk.
Instead of just turning off the computer, you can switch off the power strip that your it's plugged into. The reason is that power strips whose switches remain in the on position continue to suck power – even after you’ve turned off the individual appliance. The same goes for power strips that house your television and other frequently used electronics. If something is plugged directly into the wall with no power strip, you’ll need to turn it off and unplug it to stop the energy drain.
There are so many other ways to conserve energy and go green without spending so much money. Those are just a few ways to save the planet and your money. I'm always researching this interesting issue so I can bring you more helpful information. Going green is good for your health and your pockets too.
